Die Veranstaltung mit dem Gespräch mit Yogesh Maitreya – Dichter, Autor und Kopf hinter dem unabhängigen Verlag Panther’s Paw Publications (P.P.P.) aus Nagpur, Indien ist vorbei. Für alle die nicht dabei sein konnten aber sich fürs Thema interessieren gibt es Bücher zum Thema bei uns im Raum zu erwerben. Samaveshi Chaupal concluded its first live event ‚Anti Caste Evenings #1: An Audio-Visual Exploration of Dalit History‘ with @yogeshmaitreya from @pantherspawpublication at the @szhimmelheber in Stuttgart (Cannstatt).

The highlight of the event was a dynamic discussion and group listening session of anti-caste music in Hindi, Marathi, Telugu and Tamil (some songs are listed below), channeling our guests with the universal language of the rhythms of rozmarra to the landscapes of ’sonic imaginations of casteless utopia‘, as explored further by Yogesh Maitreya in his latest book. Interlaced was an introduction–through images, maps, and social anthropology–to the undercurrent of caste swirling around South Asia and its diaspora and ebbing on the coast of Cannstatt itself.

We are proud to sow the first sapling of Samaveshi Chaupal with the spirit of international solidarity–in the hearth of Else Himmelheber, the memory of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, and with the spirit of Jotiba and Savitribai Phule, Birsa Munda, Periyar, and Paulo Freire.
